Whats up with colored people calling themselves African Americans?

Why aren't they called colored people anymore? Or ******? Just because their ancestors came from there doesn't make them "African" Americans. That logic means that the caucasians are now European Americans, and should be called that from now on, don't cha think?

We call ourselves African American,because that is just what we are, whether you like it or not. We originated from Africa and were brought to America. Being called ******, coloreds, coons, *******, or any form of derogatory remark begining with ***, is mean and represents an abusive and demeaning time for African Americans. Would you enjoy being called a cracker, pig, pale face, yank, honkee, or whitey? Or would you prefer European American?

I'm not sure if you realize it, but you're stuck somewhere in the 1940's. The use of the word "colored" for black people went out a lonnnnng time ago, dude. Besides, what the hell is it to you?

i went to school with a girl named shantre...middle of the school year.,.,.she decides she wants to be called COCO...AMAZINGLY ENOUGH.....teacher called her that and made all of us call her that...teacher was also african ...i guess they can just call themselves what they want because nobody will tell them how gay it is because they might shoot us
