Both are better for pest control than as weed killers. Salt water will kill slugs and snails by dehydrating them. Soapy water (Dawn dish soap) is generally harmless on plants, and a lot of people use it on roses to moisturize the leaves and to deter aphids and other insects. It would take a lot of salt or soap to kill weeds, and if you used that much, you'd likely make the ground uninhabitable for any desirable plant for a long time. Lye soap or wood shavings that leach lye into the ground will definitely kill plants, but again, it's indiscriminate which plants, and will ruin the soil until it's rained enough to get rid of it, and then it's going straight to the water table.

Your best bet is to go to your local library and do a search for gardening and soap or gardening and salt. If you can't find anything specific enough, I know you will find references to soapy water and pest control in any book specializing in growing roses, and you can specifically look for books that have sections on lye, which is a base and was one of the earliest soaps used.

Do a web check on weed killer and check what it has in it.If it has a type of salt then try that.I think salt water would kill weeds more than soap water.

Soapy water can dry out and crack the leather-based. you need to purchase low-fee leather-based cleaners yet i've got had 4 distinctive leather-based sofas in approximately 6 years and that i've got constantly used a mushy white textile or white towel and a tiny little bit of househld polish and that is on no account completed my sofas any injury.
