whole axle if the cv joints are bad. I finally sent my car to the shop because the noise got way worse this morning. When I was turning it was making a clicking noise and a weird rubbing noise. So I am guessing the cv joints are bad. So how much does the axle cost? And if they don't replace the axle how much do cv boots cost? My warranty covers just the joints not the boots or the axle thats why im asking..

I discovered a previous owner of my car had repaired, not replaced, a boot cover. I ended up with dirt in the joint. It was cheaper to replace the axle than to replace the joint, which gave me warranty on the axle, and 2 joints, and the covers. It cost me about $120.00. Yours could be anywhere up to $175.00, more if it is a GM part rather than the aftermarket part I used. If you have noise, it is too late for a new boot. It is possible to flush out the joint, and relube it, but it will die in a couple of months anyway.

In all actuality if the CV joints are bad, it does not nessaserly mean you have to replace the axles. It is just easier to replace the whole thing...I would ask th repair shop, if they intend to replace just the CV joints and boots or the complete assembly? If they say they will replace the complete assembly then ask if it is cover under the warrenty?

Good Luck

The tie rod itself is approximately eighty.00 and the tie rod bring about approximately 30.00. you in all probability merely choose the tip replaced, it is incredibly uncommon to could replace the entire concern. in case you do could rerplace all of it, you will choose 2 ends and one rod.
