Most batteries nowadays, (like Lithium Ion, Nickel Metal Hydride) recharge in a few hours. Faster in a car. It does not hurt to let them charge more than a few hours. They go into a 'trickle charge' which does no harm. However, as a battery gets 'old', it will need more frequent charging, and not last as long. What will hurt is a constant charge! Many people have their laptops plugged in 24 hours a day, and never use the battery. This will make the battery bad rather quickly. All charge and no use is a no-no.. (and don't leave your home cordless in the charger ALL THE TIME!!)

At the most 4 hours - you don't want to over charge it - because it could make the life of the battery shorten. However, some batteries only have to be charged for two hours at the most.

It relies upon interior the elementary and provider of your cellular telephone. I easily have a motorola and a very-charged batter frequently lasts 4 days (with it on all night) if your telephone won't final an afternoon, I recommend going lower back to the shop and having the telephone appeared at, the battery won't be as much as par.
