In memory speak we call these "flashbulb memories". There are dozens and dozens that I will keep with me forever but my first day of Kindegarten would be one moment and another will be the day the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. The Baby Boomer generation will likely always remember very specific details about the day Kennedy was shot, and everyone born before 1996 or so will have vivid memories of 9/11.
Sorry that was more than one thing but I enjoy talking about memories...especially those that we share in common.

"Hello Swift Angel, I'll never, ever forget being an infantryman in a foreign war. The memories are indelibly etched into my neural net. I can't go a whole day without remembering it. Different events, smells and situations seem to "trigger" the memories of what happened in-country.
I'll take the memories to my grave."

I'm always going to remember how hard I've worked at beating my mental illness and what a great therapist I have who's inspired me to change and become a better person.

Taking care of my grandfather and grandmother and how much it meant to them that i was the only one of 19 grandchildren that would. I was 17 at the time and i had more fun with them than with kids my age. They taught me a lot.
