You are looking for Chlorine gas (Cl2).
You will not usually find this sold anywhere (common) since it si a deadly gas that will burn the inside of your lungs.
However, you can make Chlorine gas yourself using a variety of methods.
However, when you go about making Cl2, you need to be careful. Chlorine gas is tolerable in very small quantities, but you want to avoid breathing it as much as possible. Also, Cl2 will tend to corrode exposed metals it comes in contact with. You will defiantly want to do this outside, in a well ventilated area.
What is your science project?
I am not crazy about the idea of publicizing so widely methods of Chlorine gas production. Sure, it can be done safely in a controlled environment, however in a medium such as Yahoo! Answers, there are bound to be people who cannot handle to necessary safety precautions and will try to do it in the closet or some other similar terrible idea.

Chlorine Cl2 is a gas (see wikipedia link for more info).
"Chlorine" for your swimming pool is provided as either Sodium hypochlorite (Sodium Chlorate) [NaOCl] or Hypochlorous acid [HClO] both of which are solids that release trace amounts of chlorine on contact with water (See second ref link).
To generate small ammounts of gaseous chlorine for an experiment you will need some glassware, tubing, stoppers with 1 and 2 exits. Sodium hypochlorite [NaOCl] (use chlorine bleach) and sodium bisulfate [NaHSO4] (use Sani Flush toilet cleaner):
Set up three bottles. Put bleach in bottle 1 (say 20ml). Connect to bottle 2 (leave empty). Connect bottle 2 to bottle 3 (you need to connectors on this bottle). Fill bottle 3 with water. make sure that the input from bottle 2 bubbles through water (submerge straw) and ensure that bottle 3 has an outlet (no overpressure!).
Ensure that all connections and bottles are Sealed! Chlorine is toxic and very aggressive!
Add a spoonfull of Sani Flush to Bottle 1 and quickly cap it. Chlorine gas will accumulate in bottle 2 and displaced air will bubble through bottle 3. If exess chlorine forms the water in bottle 3 will absorb it.
You can lower a piece of steel wool into bottle 2 (containing Cl2) it will burn! Since chlorine oxidizes steel very rapidly.
Have fun!

If you're talking about chlorine in its pure form, I don't think you would want to get that because it's a poisonous, green gas.
But if you're talking about something with chlorine in it...then chlorine pool tablets would be good.

As you read above, pure Cl2 is very toxic. To make it, all I'm going to say is electrolysis and salt (NaCl). If you're more advanced in science, you may figure out what I mean. If done right, this would release large amounts of gas (Cl2, O2, and H2). I do not want to tell you how to do it exactly since this is very dangerous. This generates alot of gas, both poisonous and explosive. Please don't get your self killed.
Chlorine, in common terms, is a chemical compound called sodium hypochlorite. Bleach contains a low concentration of it as its active ingredient. If you need a higher concentration of it, you might want to try a pool supply store.

what kind of project could you possibly need pure chlorine gas for?
definitely agreeing with mr. jeffrey here. kind of a scary place to talk about it.
(yes that means you lauho, or however you spelled that haha)

You do not want to do this. There is no science project that will involve using chlorine gas.
Dont do it man. you will end in jail.

I would think that a store that sells stuff for swimming pools would have chlorine on their shelves.

Try a pool shop....Isn't that what they put in pools to keep the water clear? Also wal-mart carries pool supplies. Give it a shot
