It is not possible to compress video without data loss however you can make excellent copies, so good that you really will be struggling to notice the difference, by using divx pro.

easiest way is with Nero 6 it has a program that recodes the video with no perceptible loss of quality. Just make sure you use the lowest amount of compression needed

use dvdclone - slight quality reduction but still perfectly watchable...
