the cable or the little nylon gears are broken. Follow the cable from the speedometer down to the tranny. Unscrew the cable from the tranny. The end of the speedo cable should be visible. Grab the end with some pliers and turn it to see if the needle on you speedo moves alittle. If it does it's the little gears. Not that hard to replace. If it doesn't then it's the cable. And if you have any mechanical knowledge what so ever can be replaced by you. You did 50% of the cable work already by removing one end.

It's either the cable or one of the 2 gears is my guess!! ?:)x
