You porbably should have asked your mechanic, he probably could have shown you what he was talking about. It has to do with the wheel bearings. If there is play, or a noise, service now or pay later.

The cost depends on wnat kind of car it is. The spindle is the axle for a wheel that is not used to transmit power. On rear wheel drive cars, there is one for each of the front wheels. On front wheel drive cars, there is one for each rear wheel. Since you are in the Honda section it is probably one of your rear wheels. The spindle is located at the very center of the wheel. It does not rotate but holds the bearings for the wheel to rotate around it.

They are usually made from a high quality forged steel alloy that has been heat treated. I never bought one but suspect they are not cheap plus I suspect it would take some time to install it because alot of things have to come off to replace it.

They rarely have to be replaced. The most common reasons would be due to accidents that destroyed the wheel or neglecting to grease the wheel bearings causing them to seize up.

It is the silver thing at the lower left corner of the first photo below.

The second photo is another kind of spindle for a different car.

if there was a problem with the spindle(knuckle) the mechanic who replaced the strut should have replaced it at the same time. If you need one, you can buy one used at a salvage yard (if you cant find one call me (800 571-7899)

the spindle is part of your steering assembly.your tie rod hooks to it and allows you to turn the wheel.the wheel bolts to it..and on front wheel drive cars your axle goes through it and the hud bearing. i agree with some of the other posts that your mechanics should have replaced it when he /she done the strut
