This is my first pregnancy so I know I worry too much about everything. But everyone is always shocked when I tell them how far along I am because I am barely showing at all. However, some people have said that you don't gain very much weight in your first pregnancy. Should I be worried?

I am 20 weeks pregnant and just starting to show, my belly just popped out this week, this is also my first pregnancy and I have only gained 6 pounds in 20 weeks. I had an ultrasound last week and my doctor told me that my baby is doing great, he is actually a little bit bigger than average and don't worry about not showing yet as long as you drink plenty of water and take your vitamins every day and you eat healthy and if the doctor has told you you are fine then don't worry about it. Even if you are not big yet, you should be able to feel your belly, and feel the baby too. My baby moves all the time and I just enjoy that, as long as the baby is healthy you should be fine. You'll see how amazing it is when from one week to another you will see your belly pop! God bless you and your little one.

If this is your first pregnancy then you won't show as early as some people. I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and I started to really show about 5 1/2 months. I also felt 100 times better by the time I was 20 weeks pregnant. If you have any concerns about your baby's well being you can always call your OB and ask to come in and listen to the baby's heart beat, just for your own reassurance. Enjoy the great feeling!!

I am almost 19 weeks pregnant also and not showing. Don't worry because it jsut depends on the woman. I was worried because I have only gained 6 pounds at this point but my doctor did an ultrasound said everything is great. I started out on the thin side so i guess thats why i am barely shopwing but ask your doctor to make sure. Everyone is different.

The time frame that you need to start worrying in is around 25 weeks. Your obstetrician should order you an ultrasound around your twentieth week, and during that exam they will measure your amniotic fluid levels, placenta size and function, the baby's growth and development and your uterus positioning. All of these factors, as well as your weight gain, affect how large you are carrying. Depending on the results of your ultrasound, I'd say that you are not showing much because this is your first child and your uterine muscles are not as relaxed as a woman who has given birth before, therefore not allowing your bump to show as much. Don't worry, your chances of having a completely normal, healthy pregnancy and baby are very high regardless of your size, as long as you receive good prenatal care. Good luck!

I have no idea how much weight you have gained but if you're worried ask your Dr. about it. He will be honest. Just DON"T avoid eating. A freind of mine did that because she was scared to death of gaining wright and the baby was born like 2 pounds and was in the hospital for a while. And that part about not gaining much on your 1st baby-everyone is different. I have been pregnant 3 times. I gained 50-60 pounds with everyone of them.

No--don't worry. Every woman carries differently. If there was a problem, your doctor would have told you. It's probably just the baby's position currently. I have a friend who carried both of her babies like that--she literally didn't show until her 7th month and she had two average sized babies. You should gain between 25-40 lbs with pregnancy, assuming you were of appropriate weight pre-pregnancy.

It's pretty normal to take longer to start showing in your first pregnancy because the stomach muscles are still tigher and hold it in. This can be especially true if you are thin to begin with. I hope your pregnancy goes marvelously! In a few weeks, if you're still not showing and are really worried, you should probably just make an appointment with your obstetrician. Too much worrying isn't worth the money you might save. God bless!

This book is a must read for any woman trying to get pregnant. I was devastated and so was my husband after being told by my fertility specialist at age 38 that I had no option but to consider adoption or donor eggs (according to my doctor I was out of eggs and gave me 4% chance of getting pregnant and a 2% chance of carrying a baby to full term). After much research and dozens of hours reading infertility related articles and posts online, I have found this book! I never believed in anything alternative to western medicine and thought all the other stuff like Chinese medicine was a hoax. But I was soon glad to be wrong as I followed step by step guidelines. After one month of trying I became pregnant and had a beautiful healthy boy. Nine months after that I did everything in the book again and after 2 months of trying I got pregnant again and gave birth to another perfect little boy. I would recommend anyone with an open mind to read this book. It just might be the answer to your prayers.

there is no reason to worry. it is very normal not to show. i didn't show until i was about 23 weeks. it's fine stop stressing. i was the same way when i was pregnant every little thing that i felt or anything i was asking my sister. she had 5 kids at the time so i knew that she knew what she was talking about. everyone is different. some women show right away and some you can't even tell that they are pregnant when they are like 8 months. it's crazy!!

have you been to all of your prenatal visits? if you have then you should have already had your first ultrasound or should be coming up on it very soon. not showing at 19 weeks is no big deal especially if it's your first pregnancy. are you feeling the baby move? you should be fine but i would say that if you aren't feeling the baby kick or squirm yet and you have missed some appointments at the ob/gyn then i would call the doc. good luck
