Do you think we'll ever see the likes of Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, Parasite Dolls or any of the millions of anime series with nudity and/or graphic violence?
How about La Blue girl, Bible Black or Urotsukidoji?

How about that episode of Neon Genesis Eva where Shinji wanks on out after seeing Asuka naked? Or Serial Experiments Lain (episode 8 features Lain spying on her friend masturbating)? Hell, is that really worse than the Animatrix, with the naked big breasted narrator chick?

I don't think they'll go that far.
They have, however, been pushing the limits a bit lately- When they had that Shin-chan show on, there were a lot of things I was surprised censors didn't grab them for. (His elephant dance- his boybits were swinging away uncensored...)
Their 11 pm Adult warning says the following shows aren't for under the age of 17.... Which means even then, they can't play sexually themed shows. That would be 18+.
I think its because Cartoon Network isn't granted that permission. After all, most of the channel's programming is technically aimed for kids.. Adult Swim is only about 5 hours of shows, 6 nights a week. Other than that, its meant for kids, so they can't play that without special permissions... and that would be odd for a cartoon channel to have.

In general, the level of indecency on cable is up to the advertisers. If programming becomes too indecent for the advertiser's taste, they will pull their commercials from running during the program.
Generally, shows like FX shows partial nudity, and strong language on the show Nip/Tuck, and a few others. I'm not totally up to date on how far the edge has been pushed, so excuse me for that.
Comedy Central, when it ran South Park's episode "It hits the fan" which included some 150 or so mentions of the s-word, they ran it by advertisers first, to get their approval.
This would lead me to believe they can say or show anything. Something tells me though, that there has to be some kind of limit, otherwise why hasn't it been done, just to test the boundaries?
Mature material is usually saved up until after 10 p.m.

Theoretically, the first 3 they could, and probably would show with little to no editing. However, Parasite Dolls and belongs to ADV, which means it already airs on TAN, and most anime is not syndicated, so PD wouldn't be shown on AS for that reason alone. Same goes for Lain. And the last 3 are hentai, so that's a definite no.

Nope. I doubt it - Although I'll admit I was surprised when Eva was aired. But Adult Swim doesn't appeal only to adults (despite the time slot and the name itself). You're forgetting all of the middle school Inuyasha fans.

I have always wondered that to. I mean they say that the shows are for 17+ and yet when they play the show it says at the corner 14+ so what's up with that?

I don't know. Fooly Cooly showed Taco's dad masturbating in the last episode during the manga bit.
