how long does it take for the bowel to work properly if it is stopped for an operation?

could take a few days but if like me you have had a bowel prolapse then the doctor will give you something to help as the muscles need time to heal.Nearly every one who has had an operation will tell you that you need extra help for a few days . Please don't let yourself get constipated though as its quite painful

Can be a week, the nurse will ask if you have moved them and after a few days of not doing so she will give you a laxative.

If you have had a full clean out, after the op when you eat it should be passed after 5hours....
