Each chicken needs one square foot of space in a roost. I only want two people in my house to live.

Depends on the size of the roost and the size of the chickens.

you didn't give a size for the roost, and are you just wantign to shove them in or have it be functional?
for stuffing them in, i guess each chicken would take up about a half a cubic yard, so if you multiply the dimensions out to get the volume, in cubic feet, and double it, then you'd have the number, and a few angry peta people.

None. They can only go "on" a chicken roost not "in" a chicken roost.
