Most software need to be installed, so you'll need to copy the INSTALLER.

When software is installed in most computers, it puts parts all over

C:\Programs\Program Name
C:\Windows\System\Bunch of DLLs
Windows Registery
Windows INI Files
ECT.

For most PC software that is already installed on a computer, it's very difficult to transfer on to USB. The difficulty is that when installed the program puts files in different directories on the computer's hard drive.

I know some very simple programs put all the files in one directory, but this is not the norm.

On the other hand, if the software is not installed and all the installation files are on a computer, you can simply use File Manager (again, assuming it's a PC) to copy them to USB (you may need a high capacity USB, software installations can be several hundred megabytes).

Note: Some software requires installation from a CD to protect against piracy. Also, I didn't go into all the details, but I hope you found this helpful.

You can copy the program files to anywhere like you do with other files. But you cannot copy an already installed program on you computer. I guess you are trying to get some program installed onto another computer. But you can't do it that way. For that you need the installer program that usually come on a CD. If it is a free program try to get the installer file from the internet. Then run the installer file on the computer u need to install the program

It depends on the application. Some apps doesn't update or write entries to the registry. For example, when Winamp installs, it only creates a folder to the default location c:\program files\winamp. If I copy the Winamp folder and paste it to another pc, I can just double-click on he .exe file and it works.

If the install writes to the registry, then you will have to copy the entire setup folder as suggested by master j.
