Most men are taught from birth NOT to show their emotions, that to do so is weakness. If men were not intended to show the same emotions women have, God would never have given them those emotions. You have old fashioned ideas and society to blame for this. Holding in what they feel, both good and heartbreaking, has been medically proven to also be the reason men don't, per average, live as long as women. Show this, or something like it, to your husband. And may God bless you both.

Because we are raised, from an early age, to hide our emotions. Is this right or healthy? No. Emotional men are viewed by society, as a whole, to be weak. Yes, even by the same women who want us to open up & share. Your husband will only open up when he feels like his trust won't be violated. That means when he feels you won't run to your friends and spill your guts. Try confiding in him first. Tell him something that no one else knows about you. That may open the door for him to open up to you.

Most men are raised to avoid talking and showing feelings, but I know you already know that. If you also know that he loves you, try approaching him in a more cognitive, thinking way. Ask him questions that are framed for him to respond with a thought rather than a feeling. Such as..."What do you think about me?" rather than "How do you feel about me?"

Remember you both are different and have different ways of approaching things. Since you are obviously the one who's affected the most about him not showing how he feels, then you're going to be the one to be more creative in getting him to show you in other ways his commitment to you.

Personally, I'm not the least bit afraid of expressing my feelings. It seems to me some men have been raised to believe that it isn't masculine to express feelings because it they see it as a sign of weakness. They are supposed to be strong and astute. Ironically, a tough facade may be used to protect there image of "manly-hood" ... its not exactly tough.

I just prefer not to show my feelings,it's a man thing. But when I am with a loved one I do not hold them in.All you can do is talk to him and tell him it's OK to show feelings with loved ones, but when out in public I don't think a man should show emotions. It is a sign of weakness.

you can't get anyone to do anything, unless you really want to manipulate him into doing something he's not ready to do on his own initiative

we men are afraid of rejection

give him the space to express his love to you in his own, special way. if it doesn't cater to your needs, well, contemplate on how important the matter is for you

Not sure, but it could be how he was raised, to not show his feelings.

Some guys are like that.

My suggestion would be to sit down and talk. Just tell him your concerns and just have a calm conversation about it.

Because they think if they do show it, their all power ego will crash and burn right before their eyes, but if you do have a special someone just keep trying don't over do it he'll come around.
