Why is it that when someone has a lot to say to lead up to a question, someone always has to make a comment about it. We really only have 1000 characters to work with. How is that a lot to read?

I wonder what these people think about books?

Do they even know what books are?

ha ha--well, I often do very long questions and answers.

Yahoo answers doesn't help by squashing it all in a narrow column so it looks longer so people don't read it. But it's their loss as I tend to write good questions and even better answers.

I love to read voraciously, though, and maybe that is one reason I have so many best answers.

I do sympathize with you as I get the feeling people on here have short attention spans as evidenced by the first few answers getting more thumbs ups than ones at the end and short answers get more thumbs up than long, well researched, and well thought out answers.

I'm glad you pointed this out. When people pass by long answers they often pass up a lot of knowledge, not always but odds are high that they do.

I agree .. when I'm trying to describe or explain something I need a lot of room and a lot of words, so it's really annoying when they comment on your question saying it's too long for them to read. It really aggrivates me. But, at least you know they're not worth answering your question anyway!

I love books, do you?

I don't mind if it's really explaining the question, but a lot of the "long lead-ups" are the asker giving their own opinion and then sometimes not even asking anything. I think that goes against the whole point of Y!A.

I agree; it depends on the quality of the question. Some people are just long winded, others get right to the point.

You know, there are 26 letters in all, and a few signs like ?!,.:;'"()%&* and others, and that's hard on people's mind. I mean, we were not meant to read. We were not meant to drive a car. Not meant to rollerblade. Not meant to pay taxes. Not meant to salute a flag. Not meant to watch tv. Ah, where am I?

Well, you know. It's easier to attack the "Asker" than to read his/her question.

I usually only read short questions. I only read long ones if they really grip me, just like a book. You only read the good ones:)
