A "Strike" - Knocking over all the pins with one ball
A "Turkey" - which is three strikes in a row
A "Gutter ball" - when your ball goes straight into the gutter without knocking over any pins
A "Spare" - which is the second time you get your ball back so you get a chance to knock down the pins you didn't knock down the first time.
I know there must be more, but those are the four I can think of now.
Good luck!

Automatic Pin Setter (those machines)
Average(score)
Frame ( your turn)
Handicapp ( extra points you get for not being so good at bowling)
amazingly enough this actaully happened once. My neighbor and my husband were going to go bowling but when my neighbor mentioned that my husband got more points because of a 'handicap' my husband thought they were making fun of him because of his disability. We both felt like fools when we found out!

A strike is knocking all the pins. A spare is getting them in two throws. A gutterball is when it goes in the gutter on the side, not down the middle.

Strike! - when you've knocked down all the pins with your first ball for a cell.
Spare... - when you've knocked down all the pins with your second ball for a cell.
Gutterball! - when the ball rolls into one of those troughs.
Cell - each "round" of bowling
