My 10 month old has diarrhea. Her doctor said not to worry, plenty of fluids, etc., but I've heard there are certain foods one can feed to babies to flush out the bacteria. Names supposedly form an acronym?? Anyone know what to feed her, what not to?

BRAT diet
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast (dry toast, no butter...you can mash bananas and smear on the toast.)
THis works.
Bananas are important, because they have a lot of potassium which my son was stripped low of during a spell of diahhrea and vomiting.
Good luck!!

Sometimes the formula upsets the stomach and needs to be replaced with another. and some baby foods also if you have fed the baby something different then find out what and don't give it for awhile, see if the diarrhea stops. Don't give your baby anything unless DR, prescribed. you may be hurting the baby by doing your own remedies.

Follow your doctors instructions. There is nothing better than fluids. If he/she can tollerate chicken broth, that might help. Liquid jello (watered down) and pediasure. Don't give her just water. NO apple juice as it will give her more diarrhea. Just think about what you do when you are ill and water it down -- a lot.

They do not flush out bacteria, they bind.
