You could be thinking of the Pantheon, in Rome. It is the best-preserved of all Roman monumental architecture, and has been in continuous use for almost two thousand years. It started out as a temple to all the Roman gods (hence the name: "pan" = all; "theos" = god), but since the 7th Century it has been a Christian church.

Probably the most remarkable feature of the Pantheon is its dome, which was the largest dome in Europe until the 15th Century, and is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. The dome is 142 feet in diameter at its base, and it is something of a mystery how the Romans created their concrete with enough tensile strength to span that distance.

if you are referring to PAGAN's, they worshiped all over Italy. a pagan would be considered one who:

" 1. One who is not a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, especially an adherent of a polytheistic religion in antiquity.
2. A Neo-Pagan.
3. Offensive.
1. One who has no religion.
2. A non-Christian.
4. A hedonist."

so, what that means is that all those temples with names like "the temple of Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, etc were all places where pagans worshiped. also, many buildings that are now used for Christan worship were once used for pagan worship before the conversion to Christianity. so, to answer your question, i would concentrate on Rome and mainly the Roman forum-- those sites will probably have the most information.

The Parthenon. There are many other temples to gods/goddesses but I can't think of their names.
