But I don't. I show up on time and don't leave until the end of the day. People who are checking up on me either are lying or misinformed. What do I do?

If you have a door fob, always register it even if someone is holding the door open for you and again when you leave, even if it isn't required. When you start your computer, send someone a note or email and do it again the last thing before you shut down--like maybe your boss ("Boss, contrary to popular opinion, I am not late [or leaving early] and this is proof"). Make a journal, make a list, make sure someone sees you, speaks to you, when you come in or go out. After a while of this, the boss will probably say, "Okay, enough already" and possibly add "Maybe my information was wrong" or "I was exaggerating" or "I was wrong." Don't hold your breath for that last one though.

You have reason to be concerned. Not so much because someone may be "tattling" or misinformed.
But because you have garnered the attentions of your supervisor due to something negative.

Tardiness and inattention as an employee are high priorities to corporations. Your boss may be away from your physical location, but he is held responsible for the actions there with you.

I agree, that sending an email when you power up your computer in the morning is a good beginning. To be on the safe side, I would always arrive 5-10 min early to work, and never shut down your computer until precisely the end time. (not 5:55, but exactly 6pm). Those things are being monitored and it could be your daily activities bring into question your attention to your work hours.

If it matters to your boss, it matters to you...

Send an email the minute you get it, and just before you leave. IF you do need to leave early, send your boss a note letting him know why.

Get a time card? Call or fax him when you come and go?
