Simple test: Borrow a cigarette lighter, stick it in your lighter receptacle. IF it works, YOUR lighter is burned out. IF it doesn't work, you have No power.
I have found receptacles that were so rusty inside, from being hot, that the lighter wasn't making contact. In a case like this, Take a piece of sand paper, roll it up, put in in the receptacle and turn in around and around. This will remove the rust.
If it still doesn't work, there is no power to the lighter socket. Remove the wire on the back of the socket and, using a volt meter, check for voltage. NO voltage, you either have a broke wire OR a fuse that you haven't identified. Sometimes fuses will blow and you cannot tell it. Pull them out and use an ohm meter to check them......OR using a volt meter, check for voltage on both sides of the fuse while still plugged in. Good Luck. Pops

there is usually pretty easy access to the lighter socket and the power wire behind it
disconnect the wire and see if you have power there
if u dont there is a break between fuse box and socket
if u do i bet the element is burned out in the lighter
happens all the time
a trip to the auto parts store and a new element or lighter "pop-out" will get u puffing again
if it is used for smoking let me give u a tip
elements die because of build-up of cig paper and tobacco sticking to them
there is no need to touch the stogie to the element at all
if you remember to just hold the element near the stogie it will light perfectly without ever touching it
how bought that ?
the element will last for gazillions of lights cuz it never gets dirty

Some times, the element in the lighter burns out.
New ones are available for about $10

Pull the wire off the back of the lighter receptacle. Is it getting power? If not, the wire is broken. If it is, the element is probably burned out. Get a new one.

some times the cig lighter fail. you need to find out if you have power at the cig. light out put, check it with a test light. if you don't have one try using a phone charger. if you have power then its just the lighter it self, if you don't have power then remove the assembly see if it came unplugged if i didn't check to see if you have power at the connector (with a test light). if you do have power at the connector then you need to replace the light assembly
