Lol I meant the actor. I mean look at The Notebook and Superman Returns. I feel sorry for his characters

I think that the actor is drawn to roles like that, he doesn't always have to get the girl to be happy with a project. And technically in Superman Returns he doesn't really lose, as Lois doesn't leave him for the blue boy scout. She merely allows Superman to be a father to his child.
as in real life, just because a birth parent returns to be in their child's life it doesn't mean that the step parent is removed from the picture.
However in future Superman films I'm pretty sure that he will be S.o.L.
