going to college or not? if so why?

2006-09-22 09:50:59 · 9 answers · asked by Suzy Suzee Sue 6 in Education & Reference Higher Education (University +)

For me, sometimes I regret it. There's good and bad about college but mostly I don't know if I fully took advantage of the education I was given. So far I've only gone to community college though.

No! Never regret an education. Even if you wind up taking another direction & not really using it in your career. It's never a mistake to learn & grow. I graduated university with awards & honours & still had a hard time finding a job at first. I have a good job now but it's pretty far removed from what I studied. You just never know where life will lead you...

But it can't hurt to say you went to college/university! Who knows, some day it make a difference in changing jobs or getting a promotion...looks good on a resume.

In a way. If I had started in the work force earlier, I would have made more money. Unfortunately, I was not good at science or math so my choice of college reflected that and I was not properly prepared for a well-paying career in the workplace. In fact, as soon as I had enough documentation in past jobs, I stopped listing my college on my resume. I actually seemed to NOT get hired when I listed it. (At one point, I had various resumes for various jobs. Some of the stated that I went to college and some of them did not).

I don't regret learning about being on my own (while still having bills paid by parents, ha ha!) and meeting people from different walks of life. To me that's half the college experience, right along with the academics.

If I could do it over I would go to a university and prepare for a career in teaching. But alas, we learn from our mistakes!

And, while I didn't marry till LONG after I graduated from college, my husband did think that "any" college education was an important characteristic of a future wife.

I will never regret my education. But, then again, I chose not to go to college right out of high school. In the end, I believe this was a smart way to do it because when I was older I had a better idea of what I wanted to do. Know what you want, then go and work your butt off. It will absolutely pay off.

I absolutely regret not going to college. If I did, I'm sure I wouldn't be in the financial situation I am at the present.

I did regret it. I did not go to college right after high school. I ended up going back at 25 and getting my bachelor's in finance. I truly believe it was the best decision that I ever made.

I used to regret it,til I met a man with a Masters driving a cab. Like,7 or 8 years prepared him for that. Now, I know if you want to run a bigger scam on people, you need initials after your name.
My personal preference for initials would be IAN. Comedian,politician,etc...
