Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm pregnant, too! I was scared at first, but I know you'll be a great mom and your very responsible for getting all the information you can get- your open, asking for help- these are all signs of maturity and you're doing the right thing. Ignore those people who are critical of you- its too late for that. Now time to get you some help. Here's information about chlamydia and pregnancy.

Ok, keep making the right choices. Do you live in California? Ok you need to locate your social services office in your county. If you could add where you live I could link you to it (just your county and state). That's where you go to apply for medi-cal, wic, all that stuff you're going to need. USE IT- just like you're talking about. Everything will be free, but you might have to have a parent/guardian sign with you. I did all that stuff, and once you go into your local office its easy. You'll get help right away. They have presumptive eligibility for pregnant women, and you'll have access to doctors, food, classes, and emergency medicine right away. What a good job you're doing. 5-6 weeks and you're asking all the right questions. I think you're brave and keep it up. Take those vitamins. Get rest. Don't stress. Keep asking questions and ignore those ignorant people who are so mean and nasty. You're a mama! I'm so happy for you! You're going to do well. Post more details about what state you are in if you need specific help finding your social services office. (don't give out your address)

No, the treatment should be done by your OB/GYN and they already know what types of medications and treatments will be alright to use. The doctor should have given you the prescription for prenatal vitamins, once you find out you are pregnant they should be started right away. They can be bought over the counter, so just get some of those until you go back to the doctor. You need to go to your local assistance office (welfare) get an application and fill it out. That will be the place that can give you more information on WIC and other services or products you might be in need of. Fair warning...once the child is born, they will make you go to domestic relations and file for child support if you and the father aren't married. If you don't do this then you will more than likely lose the food stamps and any cash assistance you might be getting. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Definatley the first thing you need to do is go get the book, " What to Expect While you're Expecting" And while you are walmart buying that book, you NEED to go to the vitamin aisle and get yourself some pre-nats! they sell them over the counter and are pretty cheap. But those will most definatly be better than nothing. And all the pre-nats have to have the same general contents, so you'll be fine with those. Second off, If your dr DID NOT give you any info, any prescription for vitamins, or isnt there to answer any questions, after you get your book and pre-nats FIND A DIFF DR.!!!! You need to find someone who cares and that you are comfortable with, because you will be seeing a lot of him/her throughout the next year. So seriously that is so important. As for the claymidia thing, I'm sure they have plenty of ways to cure that without having it harm the baby, and if I remeber correctly all it takes a couple or anti-biotics too take care of it too. And for your WIC, you would have to call your local clinic, set up an appt. once you are in there, they can help you with all the med assis. info and they can tell you everything you are eligable for and how to get it and apply. Once you get an appt. there they'll hook you up with everything else. And one other thing that my friend went through that you might (maybe not) want to kind of figure out, is which one of you is going to claim the baby on your taxes - providing you work, or your paernts dont/wont claim you this year. Because that is a big thing. My friend and the dad hated each other, but he saw him a few times a month and decided he was going to claim him, so they both claimed him and got into a lot of trouble. But you do have time for that. And all I can say is once you find a different doc, one that cares and you like, everything will be great and go perfectly smooth.

First of all, you are more prepared than you think. You already know what you need to do, and that is a big first step. Some people don't even know that much. Now you just need to figure out how to go about it.
Secondly, congratulations!!
Third, chlymidia treatment will not harm the baby, so get it treated ASAP. I know someone said you don't have it because it causes infertility. It is true that it can, but this is not always the case, and I personally had it as a teen and still had a baby.
Fourthly, call your doc up and tell them you need prenatals, if they don't write you a scrip, ask them to recommend the best one to buy at the store.
Fifth, go to Planned Parenthood, or simply go straight to your welfare and/or WIC offices (look up the address on the net of you don't know it) and they will help you. You could even hypothetically go to your school counselor and ask for guidance.
Sixth, don't be too proud to take the child support. It doesn't have to be something you do just to get revenge on your ex just because you aren't civil. You are dedicating your life to this baby, he can dedicate a few dollars a month to help take care of his child. This is something a real man should want to do.
Seventh, GOOD LUCK!!!

the treatment will be better than the chlamidya. Ive had 5 kids so i know a little. You can get prenatal over the counter at walmart or a drug store. go to the health department for your wic and for medicaid and food stamps you should make an appt at your local family and children services. babies pretty much eat and sleep when they are newborn. the only problem is they get up in the middle of the night for feedings. its not as hard as it would seem. i was 17 and alone when i had my first one. be confident and patient. just do your best. go to the library and check out books on pregnancy and babies. there are lots of stuff online also. good luck and i hope all goes well

Ok, Tiffany needs to pull the stick out of her a** because that was a totally rude comment/assumption to make. I would suggest going after child support, regardless of how civil he is you and your baby still need money and need to survive. If he gets upset about child support, it's because he's trying to cop out. About your STD, did you tell the doctor you had it? If not, then you need to let them know a.s.a.p. so they can eliminate the disease before it harms the baby. You can buy prenatal pills over the counter at Wal-Mart or any local pharmacy, they usually cost $6.00 a bottle and they are the same the doctor would provide but they are a little bigger, you may want to cut the pill in two pieces so it's easier to swallow and take them at night to prevent sickness or nausea. If you don't have insurance, I would suggest calling Medicaid's 1-800 (or log on to the web) and ask them to mail you an application. After you fill it out, mail it back and someone will call you back in a couple of weeks to schedule an appointment at the nearest office in your area. Once you are approved, you can go to any clinic in your area to receive maternity care and the doctor can then prescribe prenatal pills if desired. I wish you the best of luck sweetie because you have a road ahead of you but all I ask is that you take care of your body and realize that right now, you are being used as a human incubator. Anything you take, the baby takes. Good luck and enjoy the last 9 months of being a teen because pretty soon you'll be a mommy!

I dont think treatment will harm the baby im not sure but i do know if it isnot treated it can cause birth defects. If you think you should take vitamins and they didnt give you any then you need to ask. To get help with the baby go the social services office and apply for medicaid, wick and etc. If I i were you even though things are cival i would get child support b/c things could go sour and he may refuse to help out or he may use the excuse that he doesnt have any money or whatever, and with child support in some states the father is required to take insurance out on the child. But that is your choice. Whatever you do i wish you luck!

Tx for chlamydia shouldn't harm the baby, but leaving it untreated will... talk to your OB if you have any concerns about that. You can find prenatals at any drug store, they don't have to be prescribed. Start taking them as soon as you can. Contact you local Dept. of Social and Health Services office to help you with financial and medical assistance. Often they will require something from your doctor verifying your pregnancy and due date. In some states, if you recieve Financial Assistance (food stamps for example) they will automatically file a claim with Child Support Services to make the father pay child support whether you like it or not. You may want to check into that before you apply if you don't want to get him involved in that way. DSHS should be able to tell you how to get involved with WIC. It may be available through your health dept. also. I'm not sure anymore.
Good luck. You can do it :)

If you have Chlamidya the Dr will be able to tell you at your first OB appt. The treatment will be safe for the baby.As far a prenatal vitamins go you can pick them up at your local drug store.Call and make a appt at your nearest human services dept and health dept to help you get started on WIC .As for child support . If you file for food stamps and medicade they will automaticlly take him to court for child support. It doesnt matter if you two are civil or not.Best of luck to you.I was 17 when I had my son and I dont regret a thing.

You need prenatal vitamins as soon as you can get them. You need to get treated for chlamydia; the chlamydia will harm the baby more than the treatment. Call your local health department to ask about WIC and other services. You absolutely should get child support from the dad even if you aren't civil. His support is about him and the baby, not him and you. You would be doing a great disservice to that child by not having financial support (at least) from the father. Good luck with everything.
