Federal Judges serve for life, or until they retire. The idea is that they will be free of political pressure that way.

The term of a federal judge is for life. He will serve for as long as he can write his own name and go to the bathroom by himself. If he gets too old to do that, I would be a bit nervous.

Federal judges serve for life, if they want. Some retire on their own to go on to other ventures, but most stay until they die, or until they are removed for not being able to do their duty any longer.

I think I'd argue that term limits for the President aren't consistent with the rest of such regulations. It was done just so that the Democrats could keep the office for ever under Roosevelt and Truman; the Republicans were getting a little nervous. I don't think it's a bad idea on a personal level; the job is draining. But should it be law? Probably not.

It took a constitutional amendment to limit the terms of the President, and would require another amendment to do so for members of Congress and federal judges.
