Having your tongue pierced is risky because bacteria and foreign debris are constantly being entered into your mouth exposing the new piercing wound to infection. This infection can then get into your blood stream if not taken care of straight away. This infection can have serious and devestating consequences like septic shock or even getting gangrene and having to have your tongue operated on.At your young age you may need parental consent to pierce your tongue since ur under 18 still.I do not feel like a 17 yr old is mature enough to handle and take care of a tongue peircing,it does not look nice for college entrance or for finding jobs.

17 is sort of a transitional age. If you think tongue piercing is fine maybe you should wait until the summer after high school then you would have all summer to adjust to it before you go to college. Who knows, maybe you won't like it so much after you've done it, but you could take it out before college.
Think about your parents' wishes and weigh everything about peircing eg. is it taboo in your social circle? How will it be viewed at college/job interviews? Will it signify something that doen't match your personality?
Also speak to your dentist. Consider the pain (very intense) pain involved and the chances of something going wrong, not healing properly, infected etc.
Overall no.

Ultimately, it's up to you, and most reputable places will insist you have a parent go with you for their consent if you're under 18. There are some cons to keep in mind though: you won't be able to eat solid food for at least the first week until it heals, you run the risk of chipping your teeth with the jewelry (even if it's acrylic), it could get infected, it could alter your speaking abilities (create a lisp, etc), some employers won't hire you because of the "image" they want to portray, piercings can get addicting and you may find yourself wanting more afterwards (that can get pricey), same goes for jewelry. Those are just some things to consider ...

Oh no, don't do it.
Plus there is no point to piercing your tongue if its gonna be in your mouth the whole time, i mean, come on. Its freakishly painful. I may be 10 but i know better! Not trying to be rude or anything, Im not the smartest person or anything, But i promise you, thats like the worst part of your body to get pierced. Maybe Your Belly Button would be better. Or, just don't do it at all. My cousin got her tongue pierced, and it totally turned purple and swelled up in about.. a month or two.
So, i advise you NOT to get your tonuge pierced.

If you want but it does get infected very easily. Its probably the worse part of your body to pierce. There is A LOT of bacteria in your mouth and I know that noone ever talks about whats in your mouth but I would be careful. I knew a girl who lost complete feeling in her tongue 3 years ago and still can't feel anything. Be careful at who you let pierce you and it may be ok.

You're thinking like a 17 year old. There's aren't many people older than that who think it's cute. It's actually pretty gross, like you're talking with your mouth full. You always will have a hard time getting a job with decent companies because it is commonly viewed as very low class.
