While I appreciate your intuition and your "thinking outside of the box".....such an idea is extremely unlikely, maybe even impossible. E Coli is a bacteria transported in fecal matter and such. Unless some "terrorists" figured out a way to dump a few dozen tons of sh-t into the billions of gallons of water used for watering our spinach crop, it would be impossible to propogate sufficient e-coli for this type of outbreak. E-coli can occur in the water table, and that is the most likely source of the outbreak.
Terrorists probably wouldn't chose e-coli as it cannot be considered lethal. It will kill one out of a dozen or so people who have ingested it...the people with weak immune systems. Terrorists prefer substances like anthrax, with a kill ratio of 75% or better.

there is not any want for terrorists to infiltrate the U. S., Technical Analyst is stable, the U. S. has been the main prolific consumer of terrorism interior the final century, particularly because of the fact WWII while they supplanted the united kingdom. The victims have grew to become its own procedures against it presently yet they are amateurs, the two actually and figuratively in assessment. BTW WWII Nazi subs did roam your East coast although what thats have been given to do with something i do no longer understand. via lots of the conflict, you have been independent and that they could enter freely, and after many severe rankers have been welcomed with open palms with the aid of your leaders to bypass on their strategies, a number of that are nevertheless getting used.

It has been done.
1984 Rajneeshee salmonella attack
In 1984, followers of the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh attempted to control a local election by infecting salad bars in 10 restaurants with Salmonella typhimurium in the small town of The Dalles, Oregon. The attack caused about 751 people to get sick (no fatalities). This incident was the first known bioterrorist attack in the United States in the 20th century.

The spinach revolt? The spinach rose up out of the spinach patch, armed with e-coli, and revolted. Somehow, that doesn't sound quite right.

E. coli spread to 20 states, and it originally started in Santa Clara Valley, CA. It's commonly found in the intestines of cows or larger farm animals. Chicken can be included. These animals eject the fecal matters, which are used in agricultural process for growing fruits and vegetables. That's how the e. coli went in the marketplace. There's no evidence pointing to anyone who attempts to infect us.

Because the media in this case are showing some restraint for a change, making the whole country afraid of food would be disastrous for the whole food industry as a whole, we would have armed guards on every field, armed marshals pretending to be farmers, and god forbid if there wasn't the obesity pandemic there would be thousands of doctors out of work.

Let's imagine there are people dying....Hatfields....in a small farm community where spinach is grown. Everyone dying has eaten the spinach. 20 miles away is another small farm community...the McCoys. They have never gotten along with the Hatfields. Should we run after the McCoys, or should we nurse our dying and find the source of the problem in our spinach?

Wasn't the last e.coli breakout tied to chicken? Weird. Didn't realize it would be tied to spinach now.
I think they should examine the storage silos that store the spinach while they're recalling all the packages from the stores.

Let's not get bent out of shape.
I have a theory that it is caused by plumbing problems in the packing plant. Sewage getting into the tap water.
But it's more sexy to blame it on terrorists.
