I have observed that the Muslims (I have seen) never look happy. They aren't friendly and they don't smile. I try smiling at them if we cross path, but I don't get a response. Is it part of their religon not to be cordial to non believers? If Islam is supposed to be the only true religon, why are they so unhappy? Does living in a western country make them miserable?

Not true, Hours after every attack on the USA and other countries like Bali, London and Russia, TV has covered the jubilation of muslims in the major cities across Europe the middle east even here in the USA (NJ)? Then in Israel the pakistani still celebrate at the missile attacks and burn the effigy of the Pope and the flags.
But remember they know your not muslim and do not like you, heathen. Why should they be friends to us.

That's ridiculous in the extreme! Have you made your 'observation' when walking down the street? If I was to constantly put on a fake smile every time I was walking down any street I would need botox every other week! When have you seen anyone regardless of religion wearing a big smile on their face for no reason?

Why would it make them miserable? They have better benefits here and alot more freedom of speech in Western countries.
They can burn flags and protest the governments, something they couldn't do in their 'home/mother' countries.

Wouldn't you be unhappy that you couldnt't dress the way you want to and you couldn't do what you want to, and you couldn't eat what you want to when you see everyone else dressing like they want to and doing and eating what they like?

i know a lot of muslims who are very happy and smile a lot and are great people
