My husband tells me the only reason he snoors is because he's tired, a stupid answer, I know, so I'm looking for an intellegent solution. He is a about 30 lbs over weight which probally isn't helping but I'm looking for a quick fix.

Obese people do snore more, and tend to sleep on their back. He needs to get control of his weight, because there are many health risks to being fat.

An old remedy was to tape a tennis ball to the back; when the sleeper tries to roll onto his back, the ball digs in and they turn back on their side. It doesn't wake the sleeper.

I'd also recommend ear-plugs for yourself. These come in different densities - check the packaging for the highest insulation you can find.

It sounds to me like he has sleep apnea, that is where the person stops breathing in their sleep for a moment or so and yes it can be deadly. Sudden leg jerks and arm jerks will accompany this snoring. I have sleep apnea myself so i am speaking from experience. Have him go to the dr and ask about getting a sleep study done. A neurologist is the type of dr he will need to see for this.

Try the nose thing that they sell in the store. It opens up the nasal passage.

Does he sleep on his back? If so, turining to his side may help the problem. Also, losing weight could help.

he is snoring cuz he's overweight-not because he's tired(silly man)
put him on a diet
no drinking before bed it makes it worse
no smoking
make him sleep on his side(moderate snorers only snore when they are on their backs)
get rid of pillows(they only help elevate your snoring level)

good luck

It could be sleep apnea. If it is he needs to get to a Dr. It could kill him. It killed Reggie White.
