I don't think so. There's a bunch of stuff to do on south side, station square and also things to do downtown. You just need to be aware of the things going on if you want to keep busy. Look in the paper and on the intenet for this to do and things going on.

i think most people would say yes and list some reasons... but most people would be wrong....
There is virtually no heavy industry (ie steel) in the area to day making it a much cleaner city but also making it a much smaller city
Pittsburgh has a lot of benefits as a small city (minimal traffic, easy to network and meet people, easy to walk and get around) but has big city amenities...
Pittsburgh is home to the largest concentration of theaters in the country outside of Broadway - The arts generate a lot more money for the region than the sports teams and the sports team generate a lot of money to begin with
World class museums - The Warhol is the largest single artist museum in the World - The Carnegie Institute owns the largest dinosaur bone collection in the world
The architecture is amazing - new and old - the skyline was designed with artists and architects woring together to create a beatiful view from Mt Washington
Pittsburgh has 3 pro sports team (two of them do suck) but we have the number one rated baseball venue in the country
While the population is older and shrinking... that is changing.
Of the approximate 350.000 people in the city, 50.000 are college students and the percent that the population shrinks by is less than one percent (boston is shrinking at close to 4 percent!!)
The nightlife is pretty good - Carson street in the south side is in the guiness book of world records for having the most bars per block in the country - The strip district is filled with open air markets and specialty grocers during the day and transforms into a club scene at night - new bars are opening all the time on the north shore as well near the stadiums
The Universities are Top Notch (Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne,
Point Park)
And there is Job growth (despite what some locals may tell you...) 9,000 additional jobs were created this past year
And housing cost is well below the national average

Eugene,
I happen to like Pittsburgh (considering I grew up there.)
I wouldn't say it sucks, but it's a dying city. Like all of Pennsylvania, the population is leaving slowly and surely....there aren't any jobs worth speaking of unless you have a PhD or a Masters.
But, the people are friendly, and city has some fun things to do, and they have a killer football team.
It has some ugly marks, and some lovely marks as well....just like any other city.
Look man, I view things this way.....after graduating from Duquesne University I spent some time in central PA.....Harrisburg and it's surrounding areas.
If you think Pittsburgh is bad....dude, move there. There's nothing to talk about there except for bars, Nascar, and bad modernized pseudo-wangsta rap music. It's pathetic.
Bad for business, bad for economy, bad for friendships that have depth, bad for dating 'cause the women there are scared out of their wits for no apparent reason....or they all have kids @ 21.
