I am 17 and I got ot two high schools which means that I do not have much free time. I am kind of ambitious and have big plans for future, but at the same time I feel that I am losing control over my life.
I am senior at high school and I have no idea where will I be this time next year. I was planning to study medicine, but in my country it lasts 6 yrs and i am afraid that it is too long. I like teology, psychology, literature but I am feeling that those areas do not offer many job opportunities in my country.
Recently I have also lost close member of my family and now all those things are coming at the same time and I feel that things are slipping from my hands. But I guess my biggest problem is my future... How to make decision to go and study sth you are not "in love" with but will assure your future and give up things you like because you know that you will never get a job in your"dream"career? My country is not USA, here it seems almost impossible to fulfill your dreams...

First of all, if you really want to study medicine, six years will go by quickly. If you are unsure of what you want to do, start by taking the required, core classes that you would need for any degree. While you are doing this, take a few classes in psych., theology, literature, etc. You may discover something you love, and that will help you make a decision about your career. You can't be expected to have your entire future mapped out at 17. Take some time to deal with the death in your family, then talk to a counselor at school about some possible career paths. You have plenty of time to work all of this out. Just don't try to do it all yourself. Good luck!

Don't worry about how much time it will take go for studying medicine that can take you any where you want. Why don't you apply to a school in another country. I hear Yale has a great med school and you might be able to get financial help from them Just in case you don't know Yale is in the U.S. The State Is Connecticut.

I know it is easy to say follow your dreams, but that is really what you should do. Do what will make you happy in the long run. Please don't let anyone else decide about your future. You will regret it. Follow your heart.
