Irish and Jewish etc jokes told by the Irish or the Jewish people are fine, or so it seems, until they are repeated by someone who is not Irish or Jewish - etc. which it's plainly silly.

Islamic or Muslim peoples are people, and some of them are just looking for some thing said which is convenient for them to hang their coat and hat so that they can 'claim' that they have been 'Insulted' and set about swinging at anyone and everyone concerned (or not).

It's a very difficult arena on which to even try to debate, lest you unwittingly 'offend' these other peoples.

On a morning TV live audience participation 'show,' (Kilroy-Silk) I heard a woman member of the audience tell a black member of the audience that he 'should be insulted' because someone had told a funny story about a guy who was black.

The black guy said 'he wasn't offended' or insulted,' three times, stating that he thought the joke / story was 'funny,' and she insisted that 'he Ought to Be Insulted.'

It's my contention that 'no one is offended or insulted unless they CHOOSE to be.' Likewise, 'You cannot insult or offend a religion because it's an abstract idea,' it lives within the body, not outside of it as a definable entity.

Just as the Law is an abstract idea, it isn't possible to insult the law either ....But, if it were possible to insult the Law and a Religion, then it ought to be possible to similarly obtain laughter from it too.

I rest my case.

Because in this day and age of "all are equal" and "you do not have the right to disagree or offend anyone," the easiest and most effective tool to an opinion that you do not like is to brand it racist! It can be the documented truth (County hospital losing 3 million a month because of "free" care to illegals, Dozens of killing A DAY in the name of Allah) but since it is unplatable to the apologists and PR people of these groups, they brand you a racist for speaking the TRUTH!

No it is not
I'm not a racist but I no longer have much respect for muslims of the middle east because of their action on the TV and the threats they make to the world.
I care less than diddly s_it about their religion. Just that they are sworn to kill me. Does that make me a racist or does their threats at me and sayings at the Pope make them racists.

i agree 666%.

The fundie christians don't really know they're attacking another religion because their minds are only 1 dimensional. The muslims just like to cause controversy and see which christians step out of line. And you and I both know they're wrong, so how can we convey the message that "religion is a detriment to society" to them without getting hurt?

That is an excellent observation.

I would guess it's because most people wouldn't know what you meant by "religionist". My second thought is that when many people say "muslims" they mean "middle-easterners", and that would mean there comments were racist in spirit if not language.

I don't believe being Muslim is just a religion. It is also cultural having a rich history dating back a long time.

because the majority of americans are idiots. We're a dying breed. I think its stupid too that people consider jokes about Judaism to be racist as well.

Because religionism doesn't sound nearly as bad as racism.
