About 1 in 9 people are left handed. I think that you would make the generalization that many left handed people are more on the creative side, which allows them to tackle problems and issue at a different way. This is because for some left handed people, the two hemispheres of the brain are shared more evenly than in most right handed people's. So for your case, you are born lefty but learned righty, this creativeness may have already been wired into you already.
I don't think you could actually say that lefty's are smarter than righty's...

Left-handed people shouldn't be forced to change to the right hand, because it can cause "Dyslexia" (a disorder which causes people to see words backward).
It is NOT a sign of the devil. That idea comes from superstition and fear.
I don't know that left-handers are any smarter than right-handers, but they do tend to be more artistic. An extreme amount of the world's most famous artists were and are left-handed.
It is nothing for you to be concerned about.
Have you noticed, perhaps, that you can use BOTH hands with ease? That is called being ambidextrous. Many people, who have been forced to use the other hand, have found that they can use both hands with ease.

That's like saying if you are blond and change your hair color you'll be smarter. I wonder if they can do that anyway? Kidding. Left handed people are in their right mind? Women it has been said are better at multi tasking and reasoning because they use both sides of their brains more effectively. If you take an IQ test using your other hand to mark off the test card or sheet will you do any better or worse?. If you eat with your other hand will you be more or less satisfied? Left handed people might grow up feeling insecure or different unless their parents tell them otherwise. I think it's mostly psychosomatic or emotional. My Dad did that to me too. I was the only one in my family that was left handed. I learned to copy the girl next to me in first grade that was right handed. It was really hard too because my name wasn't Holly. (kidding sorta) How do you hold your fork when you eat? Is it like awkward? Just wondering. I don't think you will starve because of it.

It is not very healthy to force someone to use their right hand when they are left handed. If you can use both, please continue doing so.
Lefties are usually regarded as more creative, some people argue that they can use both hemispheres of their brains more interactively.
It is not know why people are left handed, whether you inherit it, etc. Lots and lots of theories. Lefties do have a different brain that is the only thing that has been proven.
You are not making a huge deal at all. :-) If you can write with both hands then you shoud keep that up.

Handedness has nothing to do with smartness. I am left-handed and I have come across countless right-handed persons who are far smarter than I am, and countless left-handed individuals that are not so smart.
However, forcing children to change their dominant hand is now known to be responsible for speech abnormalities like stammering and dyslexia in these children.

Most people, however, are neither all left brain nor all right brain, but a balance in between. The left brain is the logical side of the brain, the side that uses reason and hard facts to make decisions. The right brain is the creative spark, the imaginative one, the side that inspires us to take risks and make changes in our lives. The left brain says, "Let's all calm down and think this through before making our decision." The right brain says, "To heck with thought! Let's take a chance!"

Supposedly, southpaws live a shorter lifespan than righties. That myth has been pretty much disspelled though.
As far as intelligence goes, that's debateable. Historically speaking, lefties have produced a higher than average quota of high achievers. Some famous ppl range from Gandhi to Adolf Hitler, so you be the judge.
