There is such a movie, sort of. It is called "Dark Forces" or "Harlequin". It stars Robert Powell. It's very early eighties-ish, but pretty cool. (Powell plays a clown at the very beginning and a sort of harlequin-esque magician during the rest of it.)

The book "IT" qualifies....most people don't think of it as steamy but that is because they blocked out what the kids did to get out of the sewer system.
