BAKED POTATOE!!!!!

The choice should be determined by what you're having with it! With steak or any other good cut of beef I'd want a baked potato and a few good onion rings. If it's a fried entree I'd want the French fries. You also have to factor in the quality of the restaurant or home cook. If the French fries are a specialty then they'd be good with anything.

As with any starch, it must accompany whatever else you are eating. A baked potato with a hamburger would not be complementing unless you lived your life around a love of the baked potato. French fries are more casual and are not as delicate as a baked potato. I would say baked potato with meats, especially when broiled, and french fries with any finger food or barbeque would be okay, except rack of lamb.
