Hispanic is a term denoting a derivation from Spain, its people and culture, In Spain, the term latino directly translates into Latin. Spaniards view themselves as being Latins, the same as Italians, Romanians, French, and the Portuguese. "Latin" (latino) is not used as a racial term in Spain, unless one is referring to "Latin races".
In Latin America, the term latino is generally used for people of Latin-speaking cultures, from both the Old and New Worlds. Most people in Latin America consider "Latino" to be a culture or a lifestyle to some degree. Many Latin Americans therefore describe themselves as "Latino" whether they are of white, black, Amerindian, Asian, or mixed descent.
All Hispanics are latins or latinos, but not all latinos are Hispanic.

None. Both terms are language designations (Spanish/Latin languages) that tell you nothing about race though people wrongly use the terms for racial reasons. The same for the terms "Arab" or "Persian" - they are also language designations. There are White (Caucasoid), black (*******) and Mongoloid Hispanics as well as mixed race ones. Most of those the stupid masses think of as Hispanics are racially mestizos which is a mix of mongoloid (wrongly called Indians) and Caucasoid. That mix happened when the Spanish Empire ruled over the mongoloid peoples of part of North America (like Mexico a country Spain created) and much of Central and South America.
People are very confused about race and that is by design. They are targeted with much false propaganda about race meant to confuse and create false perceptions about race that will support the racial equality mythos. People also confuse geographical designations with race. The term Asian is not a racial term and the same for African since there are different races and mixes in those continents. An African American would be a person who lived on the African continent and then came to the U.S.A. and became a citizen - such as a White person from South Africa. The people we wrongly call African Americans are actually Americans that are racially Negroids or mulatto's.

Wow posts from 9 years decrease back and nonetheless have not had a superb answer. Hispanics are latinos provided that they shop on with latin based subculture, yet no longer all latinos are hispanic as latino incorporates all of us who speaks a romance based language, alongside with, spanish, french, castonian, catalan, italian, romanian, portguese, etc. Hispanic is from spain.

Hispanic is a English word. It comes from the word Hispaniola. Which means "little Spain". At one time it was used to describe all parts of the Western hemisphere once controlled by Spain. This does include the areas controlled by Portugal.
Latino is a Spanish word. In the Spanish speaking word it is use to group people who speak a language that arose from the ancient Latin spoken in Rome. This term does cover both people who speak both Spanish and Portuguese in the Western hemisphere.

Hispanic goes for all the people who speak Spanish. Latino are people who are from Latin America (almost the same but Latinos are considered to be in America only, different from Hispanics which include people from Spain too)

" Hispanic" is a label for those who speak Spanish, and Spanish is the most spoken Latino-Language in America.
Other Latino languages are French, Italian , Rumanian , and Portuguese... So all those countries with those languages are Latinos.
Brazil is Latino but not Hispanic.
Spain is Spanic and Latino, like many other countries in the Americas.

Hispanic refers to people with a Spanish background/ethnicity...this would include mexico, latin america, south america, etc. Latino technically means from a background like Latin America.
in the United States though, different areas with high Hispanic populations have coined their own terms for themselves. some call themselves chicanos, latinos, hispanos, tejanos.
while visiting spain, my host family called me LA LATINA, meaning, i was from the AMERICAS. personally, i prefer HISPANIC.
