I think that Ken Stott is just magic in this role.

I have read most of Ian Rankin's Rebus books and always picture Ken Stott playing the Detective Inspector Rebus.

John Hannah, gave up the part because he found the scripts too gruesome and they used to play on his mind.

Ken Stott is also a briliant Shakesperian actor

Sorry I am in Aberdeen and just wondered if it was shown elsewhere. Sometimes dramas are regional.. mores the pity so I'm pleased that everyone is getting the chance to see this series. lol x

i love Rebus and i hated the fact that John Hannah played him first- Ken is the only man for the role. He was born to play that role. i love Edinburgh and go there quite a lot - I know the locations are used to sell it too the Americans - but its so wonderful to sit and watch it and go 'been there, yep and there and that was the pub.'
All of Ian's books are wonderfully crafted and the TV series with Ken is now the benchmark for detective series in the future. I know that the BBC are thinking of dropping Ken from the Messiah series due to his Rebus committments - which would be a shame - but Red's loss is Rebus's gain!

Ken Stott is excellent.
It's on in Ireland too. We can get UTV from Northern Ireland.
