Frogs return to the water to mate. The rest of the time, they hunt for prey on lawns and in flower borders. They especially like slugs and worms, which you don't find in ponds.
Solution : position plants liked by slugs near to the pond. Hosters and lupins are especially popular with slugs.

frogs and toads, but especially frogs leave the pond at night in search of slugs and other beasties, we have a couple that come out and they do their rounds on the patio and round the flower beds, they're doing you a favour. When they're done they make their own wway back to the pond without any problems.

The frog obviously prefers the back of your garden, is there not another pond or water base where he can go to through your back garden..it is meant to be very lucky if a frog wants to enter your house, they bring luck and prosperity to the house holder, perhaps you need to let it in through the back to get it to want to go into your pond out the front..and if you have been having bad luck... perhaps it will change....try it and see if your luck changes..

I don't have a pond...nor do I live near water.....but I have a family of frogs in my back garden. I'm clueless as to why or how!?!
But in answer to your question......one of my frogs loves sitting in my plastic greenhouse during the day. I think he likes the warmth. Your frog is probably a sun-worshipper like mine! Let him do what he wants....he knows best!
Maybe its prime slug-snaring territory?

Is there a light at the back door? Insects are attracted to light he is looking for food. Maybe he is bullied by the other frogs to run away. Maybe the frog thinks he is a human. Maybe he is a genius and torturing you.

Maybe the other frogs pick on him so he's asking you to protect him. Take him in and treat him like one of the family, love him and nurture his talents. Just think how proud you'll be when he graduates from frogiversity and marries his tadhood sweetheart!
