Am i messing up as a parent?

My 29 year old boyfriend insistes on spanking my 15 year old daughter as a last resort...is this inappropriate?

Spanking is actually more of a psychological punishment than a physical one. . . it doesn't really hurt the body as much as the mind. That's why smaller children sometimes respond to it. Not only will it NOT WORK on a 15 year old, it's totally inappropriate. I think there is something wrong with a 29 year old spanking a 15 year old. . . you need to ask him WHY he wants to do this.

I think that 15 is to old to spank...I don't think spanking works after like age 5. I think maybe you should try taking away some of her privileges. Like going out, talking on the phone, or using the computer. Some of these things might not work but, spanking wont either. The only thing it will do is make her resent your boyfriend because, she knows you didn't start spanking her till him. This could be harmful to your relationship with her. I would really just trying taking things away. Best of luck to you.

Yes, that is a sexual assault against a minor. For one thing if he is your boyfriend you don't know how long he is going to be around he should never take the responsibilities for your child. There is a certain age where a young child reaches where a spanking will only intensify their will to do wrong things. You might want to think about your child before you allow another man to take the duty of you.

Bilodeau is charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child. He is out of jail on a ten-thousand dollar bond. He declined to discuss the charges.

The case began Friday night when police responded to a report of a girl panhandling for money outside a Port Saint Lucie drugstore.

Reports sat the girl told police she ran away from home after being spanked with a belt.

An investigation is ongoing.

The girl is in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families.

it depends what responsibilities or rather how far u have allowed your boyfriend to go in terms of desciplining your daughter. if u have allowed him to do so i dont see why you should think its inappropriate unless you dont do it yourself then i fully understand. a 15 year old doesnt need spanking they need to realise the consequences of doing something 'wrong' spanking them will just make them think "ok my moms boyfriend will spank and perhaps yell at me but i'l do it again it doesnt hurt anyway" let them see it form your perspective why its 'wrong' without making them feel as though ur imposing your opinions.

well first of all dont let your boyfriend disipline your child! that will make her resent you! tell him that you are her mother and you make the rules for her, there are also other ways of punishing her like, have you tried taking the "important things" away like he phone privledges away or her going out b/c i know how 15 yr old girls like to talk on the phone.....dont spank but, get her where it counts!!!!
