America caters too much to foreigners and not enough to it's own. There is a waste of our tax paying dollars. Keep interpeteurs this keeps people employed but stop wasting our money on publications in different lanuages. English is the language of this land! Learn it! I think this would help in distingusing those persons truely wanting citizenship here in America, too.

You mean Spanish isn't the national language?

I agree with you. I see so many signs and stuff translated into Spanish. Why are we catering so much to that language? After all, when in Rome, do what the Romans do. If not, then shouln't there be translation into other languages as well? How come I don't see ATM in Chinese, French, Germany, etc.? Imagine 12 different street signs hanging on a pole, all in different languages, all saying the same thing.

1) Most countries in the world now you can go and not learn their language. Americans have been doing this for years.

2) The signs, publications, etc in the U.S. that are not in English are aimed at Americans, not foreigners. If you refer to American citizens who speak another language besides English as foreigners than you need to learn what it means to be American.

3) There have been non-English speaking communities in the U.S. since it started. The mid-west used to speak mostly German. This was not an issue (even when we were at war with Germany) until it was non-whites who did not speak English. Than suddenly it became a big issue.

4) English is not the official language of the U.S. So why should people have to learn English? Just because you do not want to learn Spanish does not mean you should be able to force people to learn your language.

Lots of countries that I have visited I have gotten along just fine speaking English. We are one of the only countries that only speak one language. I agree, people living here should at least make a decent attempt to learn to speak English.

It's the same here in the UK. We even have street signs in two languages. It's a disgrace!
