Since 2 hours I have been feeling a light pain feeling on my left ab, it's actually on my lower left side at the bottom. It is not cramping or hurting too much. I just feel some soft pain/discomfort rather. I am wondering if it can be my baby moving around. I know it is probably too early to feel the baby's kicks cause i am not feeling anything when my hand is there. But i asked the office manager at work and she said she could feel it's a bit swollen on my left side and she says maybe the baby's butt is there against me. Could it be possible to feel the baby so early before the 18-20 week time? And what does fluttering and light baby movements feel like, what I am saying...or something else? Please let me know!

On another note I just had the baby's heartbeat checked by the OB on wednesday and it was at 150bpm. OB said it sounds healthy and fine!!

I think it's your tummy muscles stretching... I use to get a sharp pain like that in the muscle if I sneezed the wrong way. I woke up one morning at about 15 weeks and suddenly, poof, there was this little ball bulging out of my belly... it really can happen overnight when your uterus pops upward (didn't feel babe move till about 20 weeks)... lots of moving around happening and it's not just the baby!

Pain that is low in the abdomen, particularly when it is felt only on one side is most likely round ligament pain, meaning that the round ligaments (the ligaments that support your lower abdominal muscles) are being stretched by your growing belly. I had this with BOTH of my pregnancies and, although it can be wickedly uncomfortable, it's actually a GOOD thing, as it means that things are growing :) Also, don't be surprised if you find this pain radiating into your sides, lower back, or even the walls of your pelvis.

Having said this, any sort of discomfort should be reported to your doctor, just to put your mind at ease, but it sounds to me like you're experiencing one of the first of many perfectly normal pregnancy discomforts.

Take care and all the best!

It's not likely that the baby is pushing up against you at 14 weeks. The baby is still so tiny...you really don't feel movement until at least 16-20 weeks, and even then it's very very slight and hardly noticeable unless you're aware of what it is. Fluttering feels like bubbles....for me, it felt like a goldfish was flopping around. Are you sure you didn't pull something?

Baby movements this early shouldn't be painful. You could have gas, uterine cramping, or it could be your round ligaments stretching (all of these are normal during pregnancy). I've felt my baby and I'm only 14 wks too. It's like you have a butterfly in your abdomen, I've heard that sometimes you can confuse it for gas. If the pain is mild and you're not bleeding, you're probably fine. Welcome to the aches and pains of pregnancy :) Congrats.

If it doesnt worsen and there isnt any red spotting you should be fine.
Its ligament stretching as a few others have mentioned previously.

It will happen from time to time (each time lasting no more than about 15-30 seconds), It doesnt hurt but its a bit uncomfy I know! As your little one grows, your uterus needs to make more room, so it begins to stretchout.

With my first pregnancy I didnt feel anything till around 17-18 weeks, it felt like little bubbles (not gas)to me, when you feel your little one YOU will know, its an awesome feeling and moment!

Congrats btw!

When I was early on like you I got alot of discomfort and cramping in my lower abdomen. It's your ligaments stretching and getting ready for the baby to grow. It's very common!
I suggest buying What to Expect When You're Expecting http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bookSearch/isbnInquiry.asp?r=1&isbn=089480829X
It's full of info and is a great buy! It will answer all your questions.

chances are, and i can almost garuntee that the discomfort you are feeling is STRETCHING. Stretching of your muscles, uterus, tendons, skin, hair, i dont know, when your pregnant evrything stretches and changes and does funny crazy things. Try moving a little, stretching a little, drinking some water and unfortunatley learn to get used to it. If your pregnancy is anything like my first one. Things hurt that you didnt even know something there could. Plain and simple, pregnancy is not a pretty or comfortable thing. the only advice I can give you is, learn to like it. It'll be worth it in the end.

I started feeling the round ligament pains around 14 weeks on occasion, so it could very well be that. It sounds very similar to the kind of discomfort I had.

You need to get checked out. Pregnancy does not prevent normal not pregnant things from happening. I had an ovarian cyst causing me pain in my early pregnancy I had it taken care of and my baby was fine. You can also still have things like appendicitis. Normally you can not feel the baby till later in your pregnancy but pain is the body's way of saying something is wrong or needs attention.

It's probably just the baby moving around, my wife was the same way with our first child. But it never hurts to go have yaself checked out just to be on the safe side.
