Go down there in person and demand to speak to the boss himself. I did that before and I got a check on the spot. Also, it may be there and the office staff is not taking the time to look for it. Sometimes they're too busy or just plain lazy to look for it, so yeah, make a trip and talk to them in person.

Contact your Dept of Labor office, file a complaint?
If you normally get paid every 2 weeks, you shoulda gone in on the next payday and demanded it... taken a sleeping bag. Ah, well....
When I've gotten fired, I've asked in writing at the time of termination for my final paycheck. They are required to hand over that paycheck check.
I'd quit calling- it's clearly not working. Go visit in person. Be all sorts of polite. Dress really professionally- (if you're a woman- hair, makeup, etc... the WORKS!!) Also, have the request in writing (example below)...
"Dear Sirs (or name of boss)
I no longer work for you. My last day of employment was _____. I have not yet received my final paycheck. It should have been included with all other paychecks that were received by employees on ______. I now formally request my final paycheck. I will return on _____ at _____ (48 hours from time of delivery) to pick it up.
Sincerely- (sign and print)"
Then when you go back, again with attire and grooming. This time, though, be prepared to sit and wait till they cut you a check. "Mr Boss, I quit/was terminated ___ days ago. I've given you plenty of time to get my final check prepared. I'm here to pick that check up." Then sit and wait for the check to be handed to you... If your boss is a real turd (stuborn), pack a sandwich in your purse.
He is legally required to fulfill that request.... federal law! ;)

Contact your local Labor board. They handle eployer disputes and help resolve paycheck issues. You can look up their number in the phone book under federal government. Before you call them, call your employer and tell them you are calling the Labor board to report them. They might just cut you a check right away. When you were hired they told you how often you would be paid. In Illinois at least, you have 72 hours to get your check after the paydate.

Depending on what state you're in, you are also entitled to damages because they haven't paid you in a timely manner. In Minnesota, an employer has 24 hours after you demand your final check to pay you. After that, they have to continue paying you as though you are reporting to work for several weeks more, until they do finally pay you.
You are also entitled to any accrued vacation time, and they are required by law to offer COBRA benefits (health insurance) to you (at your expense), if you had health insurance through this company.
Contact your state's bar association (Search on Yahoo for Alabama & "state bar association" - substituting your state, of course) and ask for a referral to a labor and employment attorney who will give you a free consultation. They will be able to tell you what your rights are.
Good luck!

Call your local labor board and ask for their help & tell the company you've called them also. If you had a friend who was in the police I would ask them to come with you and go in person to pick it up and ask to speak to whatever manager there is and what the reason is as to why they can't give your check.

You could contact Corporate, if you work in a retail type company. It is 100% illegal to hold a persons paycheck for ANY reason. It would cost you a lot to get a lawyer, but you may want to do some research online and bring it to your employeers attention. You could tell him that if necessary, you will get a lawyer involved.....just to make him speed up the process.

Did you work for UPS. I once did and those scumbags played all kinds of games. Send them a certified letter demanding payment and inform them that you will be filing a complaint in small claims court if you do not receive it within the next pay period. Either that or just burn the place down.

Go to the labor board in your area. They have the power to shut down your former company until you are paid if necessary, but , believe me, after a call from the labor board, you will get your check quickly.

They aren't going to give you a check. They are just waiting for you to get tired of calling and go away.
Call your state board of labor and file a complaint.
