I want to start an online business making invitations for events. I won't to be able to have someone send me an event and what they would like on the invitation. Then I would make one and send back to them. If they like it I will make as many as they want for a price. How can I get started. Thanks for your help.

There are several things needed to be done.

You would need a website and a merchant account to start the process. The website should include an individual domain name and hosting which will cost money. However, it is worth having your own domain name because the search engine spiders will index it. An easy to get merchant account can be located at Paypal.com, Google.com, Amazon.com, and Yahoo.com. An idea is to get involved with Geocities.com's Website Hosting Starter due to a lot of features needed by a new business.

Search engine submission is an important part of getting known. However, it needs to be done after your web page is completed along with the meta tags.

It is always an idea to have a voluntary newsletter or blog. The blog will keep people coming to your website to find out the latest deals or stories. It could be sharing your wisdom about the products in the store, but the ideas are endless for topics really. If done right, it can enhance credibility which will attract repeat customers.

The Small Business Administration has loads of information about becoming a business owner.

Good luck!
