Well, memorization is called "surface learning" and it has been shown by many studies to be not a very effective way to learn. "deep learning" involves an understanding of the material studied and is consider by Educational Psychologists to be much more important.
Alas, many teachers, especially in the sciences, do not know this so we all end up trying to memorize things. I think, many times it is because they had to do it, so we have to do it.
Anyway, I often find the writing things down helps me. But I'm pretty bad at memorization (I'm old). I take notes, and outline the chapter, highlight terms as I read them. Then, I actually READ my notes several times.

One of the best ways to study anatomy is to follow these two rules:
1) think about the function of the anatomical part that you're trying to remember. Does it flex, extend, adduct, abduct? Is it the short one (brevis) or the long one (longus)? Does it move the big toe (hallicus) or a finger (digitorum)? What specific area of the body does it innervate, or give blood supply to? Is there a similar, but bigger one (major) or smaller one (minor)? Is it on the top layer (superficialis) or on the bottom layer (profundus). These bits of functional and geographical information are very often included in the name of the part.
2) If you can't make heads or tails out of why a part has a particular name, find out why it got that name. Does it look like a wing (pterigoid)? Or a crown (coronal)? Or a seahorse (hippocampus)? Or a crow's beak (coracoid)?
Hope this helps.

One thing you can do that helps me as well as other people with dyslexia and other learning disabilities is get a course pillow. My mom taught me this when I was little. Get whatever you are trying to learn, write with your index finger on the pillow or whatever and the answer you are trying to memorize. Then get all of your fingers and rub across the area you just wrote it with your fingers. Continually rub and say the answer. Then write it again and then rub again until you have it. Keep your eyes closed when you do this ( this will help with the distraction factor)
Another think you can do is Flashcards. That always seemed to help me too in memorizing things
Lastly, when you think you have it all down, have someone quiz you or make a quiz yourself and take it and see how well you do.
I hoped this helped. Happy Studying :-)

Experts agree that everyone learns in a different way.
Some can learn by reading it, some by hearing it.
When my son was in school, he went thru a series of tests that indicated he learned best by hearing.
SOOOO, he would read whatever it was he was studying into a tape recorder, then listen as it played back!

sadly, there is no easy way, everybody hates studying. i feel its much easier to memorize stuff with the tv on, so you glance at the tv and then the notes, back and forth, so you dont feel sleepy or anything
