IF you do your homework, and find a good company with no to little debt, and has a product that will be around tomorrow, especially something new and innovative for the long term, like Satellite Radio, you should be able to find some VERY good bargains right now! A lot of stocks are pretty low in price right now, including MSFT, INTC, AMD, Disney, Dress Barn, and many others!

Not much good short term out there. Try opening a brokerage account and buy CAT or HD, 100 shares if you can stand to be in for at least a year.

it depends on you tolerance for risk. If I were you a nice Ukranian marriage sounds right up your alley. Most girls want to become US citizens, and you'll grow up real quick and realize on your own where you should have put that money in the first place.

try putting in the stock market
but not all in the same stocks
spread it around
I have about 3 k in e-trade
and in 4 years its up about 24 %
e-trade charges alot for buy and sell
so maybe not e-trade

or put it all on black

For a long-term view, with $5k I'd stick to a market mutual fund like VFINX.
For short-term view - your guess is as good as mine...........
