I've never watched the movie, so I think you may be referring to a movie, but in real life, the most famous case would be the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain, a 2 month old Australian baby. This case was a media sensation, and I believe a pretty sad one at that.
You can read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azaria_Chamberlain_disappearance.
And personally, I don't really care for dingos as well.

A dingo ate my baby. No seriously though , I never heard that a dingo ate her daughter. Mean things are they? Thank goodness I don't live anywhere near where they are.

That was a film based on an alleged "kidnapping" of a baby in Australia. Meryl Streep was the actress who played the mother.
