I imagine it's probably a Burmese Python. It could be a Reticulated, Rock, or Anaconda, but those are much less common.
Anyway, my feeling is if you have to ask on Yahoo answers, then you are definitely not read for a large python. Please do as much research as possible if you want to consider it, but there are many things that you should take into consideration. A 12 foot python is probably eating large rabbits right now, and can ultimately need small goats or multiple rabbits every 2-4 weeks. That can be pretty expensive for the life of the snake which can live over 30 years. Also, you will need at least one other person available to handle the snake at this point, and a second person pretty soon (general rule is 1 person per 6 feet of snake). In addition, you have to consider vet fees, neighbor reactions, landlord problems, cleaning a large amount of waste, etc.
This is not a decision to take lightly as most people that try to take on this responsibility end up releasing their snakes into the wild because the give up and are unable to find someone to take the snake.
Good luck!

the snake he probbaly has is a corn snake, the least risky style. If he's about a foot lengthy he continues to be quiet youthful so the plastic bath is in many circumstances what puppy shops furnish for the snake, once the snake is abit higher then it will want a timber and glass vivaruim. He doesnt want a warmth lamp, as he has a warmth pad, make confident the water is on the cool aspect of the tub, no longer over the nice and comfy temperature mat. the nice and comfy temperature mat ought to in no way be contained in the tub via the indisputable fact that's risky for the snake, it ought to continually be below so as that the nice and comfy temperature nonetheless rises even with the indisputable fact that the snake cant contact the mat. The sawdust is maximum likely aspen, its a thicker style of timber yet sounds like sawdust, its thoroughly positive for snakes and is offered in all reptile petshops for snakes. in many circumstances youthful snakes are fed once a week or once each 5days, definitly no longer 2 days. you could take a image and bypass on your community puppy save they must be able to substantiate what snake that's and rougly how previous is (judging by making use of the size) they're going to be sure how oftern you should feed it and at the same time as rougly you'll desire to positioned it in a higher vivarium. desire this facilitates.

I would have to go with boober fraggle 79 on this. It sounds like a pet rock would be better for you. For starters, why is your cousin getting rid of him? Too much for him also? My bet is he is getting too big to handle/house/feed. So it sounds like he is trying to sucker you into getting it since he has no other way to sell it. A 12 foot snake is only going to get bigger and if you have to ask, you have to be a beginner herper. stick with the pet rock idea, and leave the potentially dangerous pets to people who know how to take care of them, and do thier own research before buying a pet of anykind. A 12 foot snake is already a 2 person job. Too much for a little girl who doesn't know about them. Do you even know what kind of snake it is? Python or Boa. Pick a species:Burmese, Retic, Columbian, Red tail, Emerald, Anaconda? There are a lot of snakes that get bigger than 12 feet. How about a king cobra? Or a taipan? Research, research, research. Then ask, or you get smart ****s like me and boober fraggle. 2 Ball pythons, veiled chameleon, flying gecko, leopard gecko, columbian tegu, 2 savanna monitors, california king snake, and a sinoloan milk snake in my collection now. Did research on everyone of them BEFOREHAND. And have had exotics for 20 years now. Would never dream of having anything over 7 feet long, only a dumba** would. Or a professional/expert with reptiles.

You do not say what type of snake or if he wants to sell it?
DO you know how to care for it? Doe sit eat LIVE food or frozen mice?
DO you have room for it?
Think carefully before you agree,..and if you are a minor living in a parents home...you might want to run it past mom or dad as well... or if you are adult with room mates... might want to ask them..
a 12 foot snake could be an unwelcome surprise!
If your cousin is trying to get rid of it......
There are sanctuaries that will take it... for free
Also he could call local zoo's as many will also take.
Make sure he does not just release it outside... " set it free" That ALWAYS ends badly.
Once a pet always a pet....
Good Luck

If you have to come on yahoo answers to ask this I would say no. You're not ready for a 12 foot snake. Or any snake for that matter. In fact stay away from reptiles...and amphibians...and mammals...and probably fish too. Maybe you could look into getting a pet rock.

I don't think it would be a good idea to get a snake that is of age.
There are a lot of responsibility's to caring for a snake, and feeding a snake cost. Starting out small might be a better idea.
Maybe you could get a smaller snake until you are familiar with caring for one. You will also be closer. Like a puppy you are able to grow together.
