Honey first off this is something that your mother should be answering. But seeing how you have asked it. As little girls mature into women the petuitory gland kicks in and says that your body has to change ie hair under the arms, on your legs,aand in your pubic area. Your breast start to get tender and grow, and your hips start to widen a little and have a little more shape. These are all things that can be seen from the outside. What you can't see are the things happening inside. Inside your body starts to prepare to have babies. Your overies start to produce mature eggs that if fertalized will become a baby. Each month the uterus prepares for the eggs so that a baby can grow inside it. The way that it prepares is by lining its self with blood and tissue to nurish the baby while it grows for 9 months. The eggs leave the overies and gos down the falopian tubes to the uneterus and attaches its self to the wall if it is fertalized if not it leaves the body along with the blood and tissue that kined the uterus. This happens every month. The other things you should know is that it is nothing to be affraid of or ashamed of. It is also a very personal thing. Depending on your age (and if your younger) if the boys find out they think that this means that a girl is ready to have sex. Don't believe it. Wait until you are older and ready for it emotionally. Having sex can lead to pregnancy and that is something that you don't want to have to deal with right now. Remember thatwhen you are older and more mature that you always use protection. The best protection is a rubber because it also helps eliminate the possibility of getting sexually transmitted diseases besides pregnancy. Also don't rely on a man to carry protection you should have them to because if you are lod enough to do it you should take the resposibility of carrying and insisting that the rubber is used.

First, to understand periods, you have to understand that the vagina is a self-cleaning system.
Over the course of a certain length of time (the average is 28 days), a lining builds up in the uterus, to cushion the egg when a woman ovulates. If no intercourse occurs and the egg is not fertilized, the uterus then flushes out the lining and the egg at the end of the cycle. It does this by contracting, which is why women experience menstrual cramps. Eventually, everything is pushed out of the uterus through the vagina, and then the vagina cleans out what is left (I haven't figured out HOW yet, but I know that it does), just in time for the lining to start building in the uterus again.
