Although not like his horror stuff, if you haven't read Stephen King's Dark Tower series, I would highly recommend it. If that isn't fantasy, nothing is! There are 7 books in all, and they can be readily obtained at many places.

Enders Game, by Orson Scott Card, its a good series of books, hmm now that I think of it, for the most part all his books are good.

I like Mercedes Lackey. I read her "Arrows" series. Arrow's Flight, Arrow's Fall, and Arrows of the Queen.

I like Robert Jordan, but if you check him out, prepare for a loooong read.
Terry Pratchett is hilarious! I recommend 'Reaper Man.'
