We bought a toaster oven, only using our large oven when necessary. We replaced our heat system with a more energy efficient one. we stopped watering our lawn. We sleep in a cool bedroom using more blankets,Plus we turn our heat down at night. We stopped using outdoor lights. We replaced our refrigerator. I car pool when ever possible. We buy used clothing and household furnishings as much as possible. We barter as much as possible. Looking for more ideas. This was a great thought provoking question!!

I have installed a more energy efficient furnace. I use lightbulbs that run on less wattage. I turn lights off when not needed. I put some extra insulation in part of my house.

I was raised with conservation in mind..and I lived in Germany where recycling is the LAW! Americans have enjoyed cheap fuel and utility prices for far too long...when are we going to wake up? P.S.- I don't drive a hybrid- but I do drive a 4 cylinder car that gets great fuel economy!

I recycle like crazy, and buy products made of recycled materials.

I ride my bike (some of the time--I live in San Francisco).

Lights on only in the room I'm in.

Consolidate errands so I don't do a lot of unnecessary driving.

Insulated my windows.

Wear a sweater instead of cranking up the heat.

nope. I have not. But on a side note, recycling actually uses quite a bit more energy than not. It just helps to limit the size of land fills. So it is bad for energy prices but goot for the environment.
